A fire is one of the bad disasters… A really bad one.  There are no good disasters, of course!

The only good thing is to be prepared.  Have a “Plan B”.  Have your data and backups saved offsite.  This is something affordable today, even if you have a very limited budget.

One of the most known bakeries in Lake View, Cakegirls (2209 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago), burned down on March 29.  The fire started inside one of the apartments above and destroyed everything.

The two sisters, Brenda and Mary, who own the bakery since 2003 were devastated.  The bakery had up to 500 outstanding orders, one of the sisters said. Firefighters this morning were keeping them out of the building, so they were unable to retrieve any computer records -- or know if there are any records left to retrieve.

Unfortunately, no data was saved offsite or online…
